German Sauerbraten – Metzger’s House Specialty Since 1928

Slow roasted choice beef, carefully marinated in wine, vinegar, and spices. Served with a traditional sour cream gravy

Schnitzel – A tender breaded pork cutlet served plain, with lemon, or several different ways

With Jäger sauce: Sautéed fresh peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms and wine; Ala Holstein: with a a fried egg; Zigeuner: with sautéed onions, mushrooms, and green peppers; Or with Mushroom sauce

The Zigeuner Steak

A boneless Angus Beef top sirloin steak topped with sautéed onions, mushrooms, and green peppers

A German Meat Patty

Fresh ground round, melded with onions and spices, then grilled. Served with homemade German Gravy

Kasseler Rippchen

A grilled smoked pork loin chop. A tradition in Hessen

German Bratwurst

One link of a lightly spiced veal sausage smothered in caramelized onions. A favorite in the Black Forest. You can choose two links if you’d like.

German Mettwurst

A smoked pork and beef sausage, a little spicy. Served with spatzen and sauerkraut

German Knackwurst

One link of a delightful, mild, all-beef sausage; like a large bologna sausage. You can choose two links if you’d like

Fresh Lake Perch

A Metzger’s house specialty. Served either lightly breaded and pan sautéed or fried, Northern Michigan style

Fresh Lake Superior Whitefish

Choose pan fried or broiled. Wonderfully flakey

Deep Fried Jumbo Shrimp

A traditional Reuben except it has Bavarian red cabbage. So delicious!

Classic Reuben

 Tender sliced corned beef (or choose turkey) and the best sauerkraut in town

Smoked Salmon Sandwich

Served open-faced on dark bread with Liptaur cheese, red onion, and tomato

Fried Whitefish Sandwich

Served with fries and cole slaw

Bratwurst Sandwich

Served with grilled onions on a bun
